Avesta Culture School is a dedicated activity focused on music and theater. We value what has shaped us – not least the strong tradition of wind music – while creating space for new working methods, projects, and artistic expressions.

Here, tradition is combined with innovation in teaching, concerts, and collaborations. We work closely with our students, in our facilities, and out at schools in the municipality, and have an active exchange with neighboring municipalities that provides both students and educators with larger contexts for development.

We are now looking for a brass instrument music teacher for a fixed-term position. The position can be up to full-time and can be adapted based on your qualifications and your own wishes (approx. 50-100%). Teaching in brass instruments constitutes approximately 50% of the position and is a central part of the assignment.

We would like you to be interested in working with a combination of brass teaching in Avesta and in collaboration with neighboring municipalities. Alternatively, the position can be adapted to part-time or supplemented with teaching in additional subjects based on the needs of the activity.

You will become part of a cohesive work team where engagement is valued, and you will have the opportunity to influence both teaching and the content of the activity.

The position is a fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension and, in the long term, permanent employment.

About the role

As a music teacher for brass instruments, you work with teaching, concerts, and activities in a culture school where students of different ages meet.

You teach through individual lessons and group instruction, and lead ensemble and orchestra activities. The role includes planning, implementing, and following up on teaching, as well as participating in concerts, rehearsals, and other activities.

Teaching takes place both in the culture school's facilities and out at schools in the municipality. The work involves collaboration with colleagues within the culture school, primary school, and regionally. You participate in activity meetings and collaborations that develop the activity. You also have contact with students, guardians, and other partners and are a representative of the activity.

The work also involves moving between different workplaces in the municipality, which requires a B-driver's license and access to a personal car. You are an important representative and ambassador for the culture school. Work during evenings and weekends occurs.

Who are you?

You are a teacher who has a good understanding of how children and young people acquire knowledge and adapts your teaching to different conditions.

You work independently and take responsibility for your teaching and tasks. At the same time, you collaborate well with others and build good relationships in your work with students, colleagues, and guardians.

Formal qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• University education in music and pedagogy, or education and/or experience that the employer deems equivalent
• Ability to teach brass instruments, such as trumpet and trombone
• Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish
• Basic familiarity with digital tools

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience of teaching in a culture school
• Experience of leading an ensemble or orchestra
• Ability to teach in different genres

We would also appreciate if you:

• Can teach additional subjects/instruments or artistic directions, as the content of the position can be adapted based on competence
